i was recently lamenting the fact that my big ladybug is really growing up ... suddenly i turned around and my baby had turned a corner. i remember when group photos with her classmates looked like this ...

but this past weekend, the photos looked like this ...

not sure where the time in between those two photos went, but it was a very big weekend for my big ladybug. her first formal event on her own. she had a late afternoon 'prep party' with the above girls ... giggling and getting ready with the radio blasting - hair, nails, makeup and photos at her friend's home while the moms lamented over a glass of wine downstairs. then it was off to the temple to her first bar mitzvah ceremony, followed by a trolley ride for all the kids to a nearby golf club for a full dinner and dancing party afterwards with a midnight pickup time ... wow ...
it literally takes my breath away to see her this way ... and i'm truly so very proud of the beautiful young woman she is growing to be ...

It's just the tip of the iceberg. And as hard as it is, grown-up and teen kids are one of God's greatest gifts.
