christmas weekending ...

i love that the whole of christmas fell on a weekend this year ...
christmas eve is actually my favorite day of the two ...
because that day is just for us ...
beyond noon, it's generally a day with few interruptions...
no errands, no visitors, no emails, no phone calls - just us ...
we eat fondue dinner after the early church service ...
we choose a single gift to open at the table over dessert ...
then we watch It's a Wonderful Life in our christmas pj's ...
it's my kind of bliss i tell you ...

and with christmas eve being a saturday this year,
the pace this year was especially slow and easy and fabulous ...
with plenty of time to enjoy it all ...

and of course, being our first christmas with the pup ...
well, you can imagine the extra fuss ...

all the gifts were so tempting to such a curious girl ...

and after our blissfully quiet and calm christmas eve together,
so filled with anticipation and guessing from the ladybugs ...

well, then came the energy of christmas morning ...
and all was answered ...

new sheets for the big ladybug ...

and clothes ... LOTS of clothes ...

little ladybug was beyond thrilled with her signed copy of the Cake Boss's new book ...
as well as the official Carlo's Bakery chef's coat and hat ...

now she's all ready for her 4-week class at michael's: 'cake decorating 101' :)

she also got these vinyl wall decals she had asked for ...
and look what she wrote on them ...

warms my heart to read these ...

manbug received a book ...
a hilarious book that definitely rings true in our house ...

and of course, there's the pup ...
isabel received more gifts than any of us ...

a pint-sized snuggie ...

mini dog bones ...

and a spiffy red wool coat to take walks in ...

by lunchtime we were with manbug's family ...
at his father's house along with his two brothers and their families ...
so that meant the cousins got to play and hang out ...

the human cousins also hung out, but they weren't nearly as cute ...

christmas 'dinner' falls at around 2:00 ...
delicious as always ...
we all ate way too much ...
and then went into a food coma by the time the sun was setting ...
zzzzz ...

all in all, a very merry christmas ...

OMG, LOVE the Ipad book. hilarious.

That last picture is beautiful. I love hearing about your traditions. We did fondue on Christmas day. That is a tradition on Kevin's side of the family. :) Christmas Eve is also my favorite of the two days, for sure! Love your post and all the pictures. Looks like you guys had a great Christmas. I'm so glad!

Your pictures are awesome Sloan! I just called my family into the computer room to see your puppy! Little ladybugs wall quotes are really cool...I've never seen them before...and she looks so cute in her chef outfit! I was bummed about my Christmas pictures....not sure what happened but they are all blurry and grainy. One of these days I will get a better camera like all the other lucky people in blogland! Love that last picture...your girls are gorgeous!

We did fondue this year too, must have been the fondue year. I wasn't sure my kiddos would like it, but they proved me wrong yet again!

That puppy is adorable, was she a model in her former life, because she just seems to know when the camera is out!

Looking at the background, Christmas was a little green for NE, wasn't it?
I'm laughing that your youngest loved her bakery book the most. That girl has direction in her life. Watch out TLC! She's coming!

I love so many things about this sweet post! Your little baker and the fact that she set a goal to skate her hardest, the ipad book (must get that!) and your sweet pooch.

Your newest baby is just too cute in that red wool coat. Love her w/the big bulldog too. I just want to lay down and grab onto that big bulldog. She looks so cuddly.

Ooohhh..I didn't know Cake Boss had a book out. BB would have loved that. She got a cake pop maker and Bakerella's cake pops book. These two are serious soul sisters.

Will have to find that iPad book. I'm so curious now!!!

Glad you had such a wonderful holiday!!!

Love everything about your Christmas!
I have to say..shhh..dont' tell anyone, I have never seen It's a Wonderful Life...CRAZY i know and something i really want to change.:) I promise to do better next year because that tradition sounds way to awesome.
we are in the hunt for new sheets too...10 year old room re-do coming up ya know. We got the new teen catalog and poured over it. Is it bad that I keep gravitating towards PBKids??:)
I see a color scheme in those clothes ya know!:) Same favs as here too! If you throw in orange for good measure and school spirit!:)
Your littlest in the bakers hat is too cute. And I love those clouds!! PBTeen right? i think i saw them there. Riley would love those...and baking...I really need to let them do more of that on their own...you have inspired me again! And the Michaels class..they would love that too. Awesome plan!
your Christmas looked wonderful Sloan!
have a happy day friend!

puppy??? precious!!!

Your pup has got to still be just a puppy? How old, and what is his/her name? So cute, sorry now I'm just perusing looking for more pug pics. I think I just fell into that crazy pug lady category...
